ChatGPT
ChatGPT can ask Voicetta to place a phone call from your workspace and then read back what happened.
This is a remote MCP server. It is not the older ChatGPT Plugins system, and it is not the Setup MCP used to provision a new agent.
Before you connect
- In Voicetta, open Settings → Developers.
- Create a workspace API key and tick Place outbound calls.
- Give at least one agent a phone number with outbound calling enabled.
The key is a bearer secret. Treat it like a password.
Connect in ChatGPT Developer mode
- In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode (Settings → Apps & Connectors, or the Connectors section in your workspace).
- Add a custom MCP server.
- Server URL:
https://api.voicetta.com/mcp - Authentication: Bearer
- Token: the workspace API key (
vk_live_...)
ChatGPT will call initialize, then list two tools:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
voicetta_get_it_done | Starts a call. Arguments: goal, to, optional assistant_id and customer_name. Returns a task_id. |
voicetta_get_task | Reads status and the result after the call ends. |
Try it
Ask ChatGPT something like:
Get a refund for my stay on 12 October. Call +48 123 456 789.
ChatGPT should call voicetta_get_it_done, then poll voicetta_get_task until status is completed or failed.
If you omit assistant_id, Voicetta picks the workspace agent that can already dial out.
What the agent does on the call
The outbound prompt gets one extra block: accomplish goal. It does not answer as an inbound receptionist. Voice, number, SMS, and email tools stay as you configured them.
If it does not connect
- The URL must be exactly
https://api.voicetta.com/mcp— notmcp.voicetta.com, which is Setup MCP. - The key must have Place outbound calls.
- Outbound calling must be enabled for the agent's number.
- The destination must be E.164, for example
+14155559999.
